The Clear Call of Jesus

Matthew 4.19

He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Matthew 4.19-20 (NRSV)

Introduction

Jesus clearly calls his followers.

Jesus’s clear call costs.

Jesus’s call is a call to radical obedience.

Radical obedience for the disciples…

The disciples followed immediately.

The disciples were called to leave their lucrative business.

The disciples were called to leave their families.

Jesus’s clear call is to a mission.

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people. (Matt. 4.23 NRSV)

Jesus is seeking and calling each one of you today.

The call is to follow in radical obedience.

The clear call is to the mission and message of Jesus.
