The Blessing of Coming Clean

March 10, 2024

A story from my childhood…

David reveals the crushing burden of unconfessed sin.
His physical body was affected (v. 3)
His emotional state was affected (v. 4)

The spiritual reality is that sin separates us from
fellowship with God.

David confessed his sin to God; he came clean with God.

God’s forgiveness immediately followed David’s honest
confession.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Repentance (confession) is aligning to the truth. It’s dropping the
act. It’s acknowledging that we are sinners in need of grace.

Restored relationship with God brings the blessed life (vv
6-7).

Lent is a time when we focus on our relationship with
God.

One of the life-giving practices of Lent is confession
and repentance.

What acts, attitudes, omissions, are you trying to hide
from God?
