STRAIGHT LINES MAKE A SOLID HOUSE
Amos 7.7-17

Behold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of my
people Israel; I will never again pass by them…
Amos 7.8 (ESV)

INTRODUCTION

The Minor Prophets have a Major Message!

Amos sees God place a plumb bob in the
middle of Israel.

A plumb bob measures a buildings “trueness”
or “straightness.”

Israel was found, by God, to be “out of plumb”
with God’s plans and mission.
Out of plumb by worshipping idols
Out of plumb in terms of God’s justice
Out of plumb in terms of God’s heart and
priorities.

God’s grace is announced in judgment.

CONCLUSION
If God were to hold a plumb bob up to your life,
would you be found to be true to God’s plan,
love, and justice?
